ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Music Pedagogy Department, which was founded at the Academy of Music in 1951, was divided into the theoretical-pedagogical, and instrumental and vocal tracks until June 1963. The Academy Council in 1965 established a two-year study programme for teachers of music pedagogy, which was transformed into a four-year study programme of music pedagogy in 1977 which served as the foundation for the current Music Pedagogy Department.

ABOUT THE STUDY PROGRAMME

Many experts in the field of music education have graduated at the Music Pedagogy Department. Graduates find jobs in a variety of fields – primarily in education, and in cultural institutions, the media (newspapers, radio, television), publishing and production companies, and in many other organisations.

In accordance with the mission of the University of Zagreb, which encourages constant improvement in the study programmes in order to promote excellence and to motivate students in their professional development, the integrated study of Music Pedagogy at the Academy of Music in Zagreb creates a link between artistic disciplines and the process of the education of artists.
