Artistic training programmes last two semesters (one academic year).

Participants are not granted full-time students status.

The applicant covers all course fees*, which can be paid in four instalments.

Teaching is carried out in the form of mentored classes of the main subject and accompaniment/ rehearsals (in accordance with the pre-approved study plan).

The training program in electronic music is organized according to the needs and preferences of candidates. For instrumentalists who intend to use electronic “live” at the concert performances, teaching focuses on this area (MIDI, synthesizers, electric control devices in real time, etc.). Composers are introduced to various techniques of composing sound, with the focus on the use of digital workstations with the software package “Kyma”.

Classes are conducted in Croatian but can, if needed, be held in English.

The enrolment application tender for programme is generally announced twice a year with deadlines being September 9th and January 31st for enrolment in the winter or the summer semester of the current academic year.

Tender is open to candidates who have completed graduate studies and gained the title Master of Music (mag.mus.) as well as candidates who have completed undergraduate studies according to previous regulations. Candidates who graduated abroad are required to carry out Academic Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications (with University of Zagreb office for Academic Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications – www.unizg.hr).

The selection of candidates for training is done through the entrance exam. Candidates must pass an entrance exam, which consists of a short solo performance program *** or presentation of compositions ***. The entrance exam applicant will hold a consultative interview with the head of the Department. Candidates must provide entrance exam Piano accompaniment themselves.

At the end of training, students must perform a public concert program that was approved by the Council of the Academy upon enrolment into the study programme or present the work (s). Academy of Music issues a certificate upon successful completion of training.

The participant shall bear the costs of entrance examinations (500,00kn) and final exam (1000,00kn).

Applications for admission should be submitted on the prescribed form obtainable at the student office, or website Academy website (www.muza.unizg.hr).

Documents required for registration are: original or copy of the diploma, copy of diploma supplement or index, CV with a description of artistic activity, confirmation of payment entrance examination fees (IBAN HR50 23400091100159167), and a program of works prepared for the performance at the entrance exam ** .

Copies of the requested documents can be submitted alongside the application; original documents must be presented for the enrolment.

Entrance exams are held for a period of ten days after the final deadline.

The one-year artistic training program for orchestral musicians is conducted in collaboration with the Zagreb Philharmonic. Upon completion of the program the candidate has acquired 50 ECTS credits.

 

The training program for orchestral musicians consists of three parts that complement each other. The main subject mentoring is carried out as individual classes with the focus on mastering representative orchestral literature for a particular instrument. With the help of the mentor the student prepares a short program consisting of classical and modern concert and a solo composition, rehearsals complement the main course. The orchestra practice classes are conducted in a professional orchestra – The Zagreb Philharmonic. The student actively participates in the rehearsals and concerts of the orchestra for 15 weeks (one artistic season).

The final exam is an independent student work in the preparation of the final exam that ends the training.

Classes can, if needed, be held in English, also, the student is expected to possess adequate knowledge of foreign languages for communication in orchestra rehearsals carried out by potential foreign conductors.
